What is Golfer’s Elbow?

Golfer’s Elbow is a condition caused by overuse of the forearm muscles that attach to the medial epicondyle (inside of the elbow).

Despite the name, it doesn’t just affect golfers—it’s common in:

  • Office workers (repetitive typing)

  • Tradies

  • Gym-goers (gripping, pulling exercises)

  • Massage therapists (very relevant 😉)


⚠️ Common Symptoms

  • Pain on the inside of the elbow

  • Weak grip strength

  • Pain when:

    • Holding objects

    • Flexing the wrist

    • Twisting movements (e.g. opening jars)

  • Tightness in forearm muscles


🔍 What Causes It?

Golfer’s Elbow is usually caused by:

  • Repetitive wrist flexion

  • Overuse of:

    • Flexor carpi radialis

    • Flexor carpi ulnaris

    • Pronator teres

  • Poor technique (gym, sports, work tasks)

  • Sudden increase in load or activity
